Asia Cement Participates in the 46th AFCM Conference in Brunei
Asia Cement participated in the 46th ASEAN Federation of Cement Manufacturers (AFCM) Conference, held in Brunei from October 15–17, 2025. The event brought together key industry leaders to advance sustainable development in the cement sector across Southeast Asia.
The event was attended by Dr. Chana Poomee, President of AFCM; Mr. Montri Nithikul, Secretary General of AFCM; Mr. Nopadol Ramyarupa, Vice Chairman of the Thai Cement Manufacturers Association (TCMA), who led the Thai delegation; and Mr. Arnon Janyam, Head of the AFCM Decarbonization Roadmap Task Force.
The conference served as a vital platform for exchanging knowledge and innovations in cement manufacturing, with a strong emphasis on transitioning toward low-carbon production methods to reduce environmental impact.
A landmark achievement of the conference was the official endorsement of the “AFCM Decarbonization Roadmap 2035” by all eight ASEAN member countries. This roadmap marks the first unified carbon reduction initiative by an industry sector in the region. It outlines a strategic shift from Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) to low carbon alternatives and promotes the adoption of clean energy sources in cement production.
